  S5 Hike #13 - Big Tree Boardwalk - Rockaway Beach Starting Location:  parking lot off Hwy 101 Point of Interest :  Large Cedar Tree, boardwalk, nature Distance : 0.5 miles each way Difficulty : easy, and accessible Bathrooms:  portapotty Parking : yes, but small lot. Some parking on side of road EV Chargers :  No This is the only sign you get for this hike. It's just after Twin Rocks, before Rockaway Beach. I was lucky enough to get here when it was raining. Pretty hard. I did have my hiking gear, minus my rain pants. So I got pretty wet. However, this is a pretty hike though a dense forest. The boardwalk goes the entire distance, and was in great shape. Honestly, I was almost as interested in the craftmanship of the boardwalk as I was with the sights along the hike.   Saint Perpetua Trail Trail Map Starting Location:  Cape Perpetua Visitors Center (just South of Devil's Churn) Point of Interest  :   trails for hiking, with views of ocean Length of hike:   2.8 miles from visitor's center to top and back again. Level :  moderate to difficult (mud, some steepness, tree roots) Bathrooms :  Yes, flush toilets at Visitors Center, and at top of Cape Parking :  Large paved lot, EV Chargers: No Just 5 of us on this hike. We hoped that the weather would be okay (which is what our weather apps said...). However, it drizzled much of our hike. We drove to Newport, and took the first picture at Nye Beach, where there are public restrooms. Then on to Cape Perpetua. There was some confusion about where the trailhead was. Since we were coming from the North, we got to Devils Churn first, but we didn't have time to stop, since we were getting a late start. Cape Meares Scenic Viewpoint Starting Location: parking lot -  Point of Interest :  Lighthouse, Biggest Tree, Octopus Tree, beach Length of hike:   4 different hikes, about 4 miles total. Level :  moderate. Refuge trail is maintained, but can be a bit muddy, some steep inclines, tree roots. Bathrooms :  at main parking lot at end of road by lighthouse Parking : Decent paved lot at lighthouse, smaller lot by refuge trailhead. EV Chargers : No So 4 different trails. We started at the Octopus Tree trail since we needed to use the restroom first. Great views from the parking lot, with lots of viewpoints and information boards.  Then we drove to the other trailhead about 1/2 mile up the road (you pass it if you go to the lighthouse). We had tried to time it so that by the time we got to the beach it would be low tide. That way you can walk the whole beach if you like. Otherwise you are kinda trapped in a small beach at the end of the trail. The hike is beautiful...
