Season 2 - Episode 1 - Willamette River, Peoria to Crystal Lake
We finally got out on the river on the hottest day of this young summer. We put in at Peoria Park , which is small, but adequate. There is a vault toilet right off the road, and a circular drive to the boat ramp, which is close by. The ramp is on a small inlet of the river, so almost no current to deal with until you join the main channel. This is a nice stretch of river, with little road noise, and no bridges to go under. There were a few large groups of rafters, mostly in tubes, that were a bit loud, and one group we passed so we didn't get high following them. The distance to Willamette Boat Landing, or Crystal Lake boat ramp is about 9 miles, and this float took about 3 hours. There were some minor "rapids" where we got to go faster, but plenty of gentle calm river to just enjoy. We were with Leanna's sister and her husband, who had just purchased new kayaks, and rack for their car, so we can look forward to more adventures with them on the rivers.
