#1 - Brian Booth State Park

We took our first kayak trip at Beaver Creek, part of the Brian Booth State Park near Newport. The boat ramp is decent, with adequate parking and a single outhouse. We got to take the kayaks down from the truck rack for the first time, which I hope will get easier. But once we were in the water, it was glorious. Beaver Creek is just off Hwy 101 across from Ona Beach, and we were able to paddle/pedal far enough to actually see the ocean before it became too shallow. On the way, we were treated to plenty of ducks with ducklings, and someone playing the flute on the river bank. Although there were quite a few people around, once we were on the river, we all spread out and it didn't seem crowded at all. The stretch from the boat ramp to the ocean view is very short. After viewing the ocean, we turned around and headed up the creek, luckily, we had our paddles. The scenery is beautiful, and the sound of birds were constant. Fish were jumping, ducks eating, birds flying, and dragonflie
